Both of these recipes were very good. I accidentally cooked the hawaiian rolls a little too long and they got hard, but I'm sure if you cook them to perfection they will taste even better. Using these rolls to make ham and swiss sliders was brilliant of me :) They tasted so good.
Hawaiian Dinner Rolls
Ingredients:
6 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
3 eggs
2 cups pineapple juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp ginger
1 tsp vanilla
4 tsp yeast
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup applesauce
Directions:
1. Beat the eggs. Add the pineapple juice, sugar, ginger, vanilla, applesauce, and butter.
2. Place 3 cups of flour in a large bowl. Stir in the egg mixture until well-combined. Sprinkle in the yeast
3. Add the remaining 3 cups of flour and mix in. Knead until smooth and no longer sticky, add 1/2 cup flour as needed. Cover the bowl and let rise in a warm place for an hour.
4. Remove from bowl and divide into dinner rolls. Cover and place in a warm place to rise for 1 hour, or double in size.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or golden brown.
Ham and Swiss Sliders
Ingredients:
12 hawaiian dinner rolls (recipe above)
12 pieces good honey ham
12 small slices Swiss cheese
Poppy seed sauce:
1/2 Tbsp poppy seeds
2 1/4 tsp yellow mustard
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 Tbsp minced onion1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions:
1. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. You do not have to use all of the sauce! Just use enough to cover the tops. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly.
3. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.

These rolls look amazing. Your mother is so lucky to have 2 daughters that love to cook when they come home. You are so cute! I am shocked that you would actually be out until 2 am but I also know when those bug boys come to town what they do to the girls, lol. Are they worth it? jk
ReplyDeleteYes, they're worth it...well at least one of them is :)
